The plants are quite easy to miss as their colour blends in well with mosses and leaves.
Mainly insect pollinated.
Prefers shady areas in the bush.
Corybas cheesmanii
Flowers May-August.

Corybas iridescens
This species is often found in dense colonies
Flowers August to October.

Flowers October to November.
It has a more rounded and brighter green leaf than Corybas acuminatus. This species is found in shaded wet mossy areas.
Corybas oblongus
Flowers October - November.
Prefers damp shady areas.
Corybas trilobus
Seems to flower earlier than many other Corybas - August to September.
These can be found in large groups, in mixed forest, alongside tracks.
I have also found large clumps in grass in open remnants of bush where cattle are grazing.
Corybas vitreus
Distinguished by a very pale labellum face and maroon outer wings.
Found on a moist forest floor and under shady manuka.
Flowers in spring, from August to October.
Corybas rivularis
Flowers October - November.
Prefers damp shady areas.
Corybas macranthus
These can be found in large groups, in mixed forest, alongside tracks. Often the flower is invisible apart from the filaments of the lateral sepals and petals are all that is visible above the leaf.

Corybas hypogaeus
The flower on this species is tiny, and often leaf litter needs to be moved to see them properly.
Flowers August to early Dec.
Found in moist beech forest. Compared to other species in the C. trilobus group, the leaf is usually wider than long.
