A very small and beautiful orchid. I found them growing in a sphagnum bog under Leptospermum.

Found in many parts of NZ.

Caladenia atradenia
Found in open scrub/forest.
It is the only Caladenia with a dark red labellum.
Caladenia lyallii
I have only seen this one in the South Island in alpine/subalpine areas, but it also appears in the mountainous areas of the North Island. It prefers lowland to alpine tussock, wetlands and scrub. Flowers Nov-Jan.

Found in open well-lit scrub/forest.
