Panellus stypticus (Bull.) P. Karst
This is a small pale brown species found in clusters on hard wood.
Cap diam: 5–20 mm.The cap is finely velvety to woolly and the stipe is attached laterally.
It is thought to be bioluminescent.
Panellus are small to medium sized mushrooms with a short lateral stipe. They look like a Pleurotus but with a tougher, often hairy, cap. The spores are amyloid.
