Calocera sp.
This is a genus which appears in large groups on wet rotting wood. Its pale yellow-orange finger-like fruiting bodies are gelatinous. Up to 40 mm tall.
There are at least ten different species in NZ. Two species are illustrated here.
Calocera belongs to the Dacrymycetales which are a group of tough gelatious fungi.
Dacryopinax spathularia (Schwein.) G.W. Martin
These are small spoon-shaped jelly fungi found on rotting wood. They darken to an orange-red when dry. Size: the “spoon” is 3–5 mm wide.
