Lejeuneaceae
Most species in this family are epiphytic. The leaves are divided into lobe and lobule.
Archilejeunea olivacea
This plant is easily recognised with the dark green rounded leaves which are tightly overlapping.
It is found growing in clumps on tree trunks.
Archilejeunea scutellata
This species also grows on trees but is smaller than the previous one.
The underleaves are small, circular or kidney shaped.
This image shows the underside with the lobules. The leaves are rounded at the tips.
Lejeunea flava
This species is usually found growing on the bark of trees, especially at the edges of bush. It can also be found growing on fern leaves.
It is usually a pale greenish-yellow colour.
The underside of the leaves are interesting to look at. There is a lobule on the underside of the main leaf. The underleaf has a U-shaped sinus.
