Jungermanniaceae
These are leafy liverworts. The leaves are unlobed and have a smooth edge. The perianth is terminal on the leading shoot and is globose or cylindrical.
Chandonanthus squarrosus
This species can form quite dense clumps on old tree stumps and logs.
The stems are sparingly branched and can appear to be four-angled because of the rows of leaf apices.

Cryptochila nigrescens
The leaves are almost circular in shape, with an entire (no serrations/teeth) on the margin.
There are no underleaves.
Cuspidatula monodon
Often found as an epiphyte, growing on branches. Also found on old logs and rocks.
Jungermannia hodgsoniae
This is one forms bright green patches on banks, and is easily recogniseable with the round shape of its leaves.
