Balantiopsidaceae In New Zealand there is only one genus, Balantiopsis, in this family. This genus is found only in the southern hemisphere. Balantiopsis species can be easy to confuse with the Schistochilas. |

This one forms clumps of light green foliage on damp soil and rotten logs. It does not always show this red colouration. The pinky structures at the tips of some of the branches are where the female part (archegonium) is. |
