Volvopluteus gloiocephalus (DC.) Vizzini, Contu & Justo (Syn. Volvariella speciosa) The colour of this species is variable from white to pale grey-brown colour with a viscid cap when fresh. The cap diam: 50–150 mm. The gills start as white but become pink as they mature. The stipe is white and becomes wider at the base and the volva is quite often visible. It is an introduced species found in gardens, especially where there is organic mulch. |
