This purplish-brown species is found on wood chip. Cap diam. up to 40–50 mm. When young the cap has the remnants of a whitish veil.

This species is honey-brown when young, becoming white as it ages. Cap diam: up to 50 mm. The caps usually have the remnants of the veil on their edge. It is quite fragile and breaks easily when handled.
