Porphyrellus formosus

(Syn. Tylopilus formosus)

A dark brown bolete (sometimes with purplish tints) with a dry velvety cap surface. The hymenophore is pale creamy fawn when young, becoming yellowish brown with age. Cap diam: 60–150 mm. Found under beech and tea tree.
