Pisolithus sp. This genus are unusual irregularly globose-shaped fungi. The fruiting bodies grow out of the soil and are a blotchy mixture of various yellow-brown colours. Size: up to 60 x 40 mm. It is mycorrhizal with tea tree (especially Kunzea) and found in the thermal areas of the central North Island. |
