Morganella compacta (G. Cunn.) Kreisel & Dring (Syn. Lycoperdon compactum) This is a type of puffball. This one is initially covered with a layer of dark brown spines which eventually fall off. The inner layer which has a network pattern on it is then exposed, and the spores are puffed out through the opening when drops of rain hit the puff ball. |
