Leotia lubrica (Scop.) Pers. Known as “Jelly Babies”, these distinctive fungi are found on soil or very rotten wood in beech forests. The cap is green and the stalk is yellow. Cap diam: 15–25 mm. The whole fruiting body is usually glutinous. Although given the same name as those found elsewhere in the world, molecular studies have shown that the NZ species is distinct from others. |
