Leccinum scabrum (Bull.) Gray

An introduced species from the Northern Hemisphere.

It is associated with Betula pendula (silver birch) and can be found where these trees are planted in parks, gardens etc.

The cap is 50–110 mm in diam. and coloured a greyish brown to dark brown. The stipe is a greyish white covered with dark scales, a distinctive feature of this species.
