Can be distinguished by the pointed cap.

Hypholoma australianum

Found in Nothofagus forest.

Always has a shaggy stem but cap colour can be very variable.

Found in groups on dead logs.

Hypholoma fasciculare

Also known as the "Sulphur Tuft".Found on old wood.

Usually found densely crowded, has a bitter taste (make sure you spit it out - it is poisonous), and has greenish gills.

Hypholoma frowardii

Found growing on woody debris.
