A pale golden yellow species with an acute peak to the cap. The stem is yellow near the top, becoming orange towards the base. Cap diam: to 25–30 mm.

Hypholoma australianum Redhead

An orange to tan species with a shaggy white stem. Cap diam: 20–30 mm.

Hypholoma brunneum (Massee) D.A. Reid

A dark brown species with conspicuous pale veil remnants on the cap. Usually found in clusters on fallen logs. Cap diam: up to 50 mm.

Hypholoma fasciculare (Huds.) P. Kumm.

Also known as the “sulphur tuft”, this species is found growing in large clusters on stumps and logs. Its cap is yellow with a slightly darker centre and the gills have a distinctive green shade. Cap diam: up to 30 mm.

Hypholoma frowardii (Speg.) Garrido

A golden honey brown coloured species with a darker centre to the cap and a light coloured margin. Cap diam: up to 60–70 mm.
