Hygrocybe firma (Berk. & Broome) Singer With genetic analysis, it seems apparent that there is more then one species under the umbrella of this name. In time, the results of these studies will be published, along with name changes. At present, species given this name have dimorphous spores and basidia. There are a variety of red, orange and yellow colours named H. firma at the moment. The red version can be confused with Hygrocybe rubrocarnosa, but H. rubrocarnosa has a bronze tinge to the cap. |
