Cortinarius subcastanellus E. Horak, Peintner, M.M. Moser & Vilgalys emend. A medium-sized species with a cap diam. of 25–55 mm. It is a glutinous warm red-brown to golden-brown colour. The ring is positioned high on the stipe while the base often has a small bulb. Under beech. This species appears to be similar to Cortinarius cesarioanus, but the cap has very little in the way of veil remnants. The collar is also placed higher on the stipe, whereas in C. cesarioanus the collar is low on the stipe. |
