Cortinarius cesarioanus AR Nilsen & Orlovich This species was previously named as C. subcastenellus, but molecular studies have shown that it is a separate species. What had been named as C. wallacei is now C. subcastenellus. A glutinous tan brown cap with a paler centre. There are usually conspicuous veil remnants on the cap. Cap diam: up to 80 mm. It has a ring towards the lower part of the stipe. This species and C. majestaticus can look alike, but the latter species has a striate ring higher on the stipe and is usually darker in colour. Under beech. |
