Agaricus praeclaresquamosus

I found a large quantity of these growing alongside an orchard shelterbelt. What attracted my attention as I drove past was that someone was gathering them.

These mushrooms came up white, but quickly went brownish.

The stalk goes yellowish when bruised.

Apparently some people can eat them without problems, while others can become violently ill. (I didn't bother trying them!)
